Students will have a cleaned and cut gourd approx 7-8 inches tall and 5-6 inches in diameter.

Students will be using totally GREEN products from Earth Safe Finishes. We will be using Crackle to give the bird house that old aged wood look, Perfect Paints, Colorants and Varnish. All the products are Eco safe, non-toxic to the artist or the earth and wash-up with soap and water.

Students will learn how to prepare there gourd for the crackle and how to use the crackle. Students will be given an instruction sheet for all steps and color pictures.

Students will learn how to make flowers and leaves and how to highlight and shade them.

Students will learn how to mix colorants with the paint to make their own vibrant colors. Students will learn how to load, side load there brushes.

Students will learn several different decorative art strokes for their flowers

They will also learn to float, shade and make dots. Bird house will be finished up with UV protection varnish.

We will adorn the house with a little perch for our bird and wire and raffia to hang from your favorite tree. 

Supplies for students to bring are: I will have brushes for sale if they would rather pick them up in class brushes run from 2.99 to 4.99.

Paint brushes  We will be using a 1/2 inch flat brush, # 2 or 3 round, 1/4 or 1/2 inch angular and a # 0 or 1 liner brush. Students may bring any brushes they have to class.

Water bowl and towel and mask we will be drilling 2 holes in the gourd one for the perch and one for the wire to hang it with.

All other supplies will be provided buy teacher.

Project will be finished in class.
